Power Street is excited to offer another free Land and Body course this fall! We will give adults a chance to escape the routine of life and return to imagination and play!
These free theater classes will take place in North Philadelphia at Esperanza Health Center: 3222 H St, Philadelphia, PA 19134
Participants will engage in a series of fun and engaging activities then work in small groups to create an original 10-minute play. Whether you consider yourself a writer, director, performer, or some combination of those three (or don’t call yourself any of those things but you’ve always wanted to try) this class is for you!
Registration is now CLOSED!! Stay connected for the next class in 2025

In 2019, Power Street was funded by The Bartol Foundation and The Resist Foundation to offer free bilingual adult theater classes, taught in both English and Spanish, at West Kensington Ministry. Students explored experimental theater with Gabriela Sanchez and playwriting with Erlina Ortiz. The program was inspired by the lack of opportunity to escape daily life that happens naturally as we get older - we envisioned this program as an opportunity for adults to return to imagination and play.
Students gained confidence, collaborated with their neighbors, and learned skills on how to share their voices.

This program is intentionally designed for adults 18+.

Yes. We require a commitment from students to participate in all scheduled classes within the course. This allows us to uphold fairness to the collective group and honor our teaching artist’s curriculum. We allow one absent day with prior notification to teaching artist (barring emergencies that arise).
We offer these courses free of charge to amplify accessibility. First come first serve!
